Iowa Governor Terry Branstad and Nebraska Governor Dave Heineman
declare August 17-23, "Insurance Fraud Awareness Week". The Governors
met with representative of the Iowa-Nebraska IASIU and others from the fraud
fighting community at proclamation signing ceremonies today and last week. The
Iowa-Nebraska IASIU is excited to take the lead in increasing insurance fraud
and would also thank the following organizations for their support and efforts:
Iowa Insurance Fraud Bureau, Nebraska Insurance Fraud Prevention Division,
National Insurance Crime Bureau, Coalition Against Insurance Fraud,
Eastern Nebraska Anti-Fraud Assoc., Des Moines Chapter ACFE and Hearland Chapter ACFE.
The Proclamation signing ceremonies also served as an opportunity to recognize
and congratulate Colleen Fell, winner of the 2014 IA-NE IASIU/John R. Winkler Memorial Scholarship and
2014 Insurance Fraud Essay Contest winners; Eben Kohtz - NE Middle School Div, Jaeda Wilson - IA
Middle School Div, Case Spencer - NE High School Div and Garrett Kroger - IA High School Div.
Insurance fraud is a felonly crime in Iowa and Nebraska and impacts
everyone through higher premiums and cost of goods and services.
